Headache and Migraine Relief
Headaches and migraines can be life stopping.
From an acupuncture and East Asian medical perspective can have a multitude of causes. So, we always recommend that patients consult with their primary doctor if they have new or changing headaches.
Due to the sheer number of possible external (example; work stress, injury) or internal causes (example; work stress, absorption issues) we always do an in-depth intake and evaluation to determine the best course of action. This may include the addition of herbal medicine or supplements to the acupuncture treatment.
Herbs and supplements are ideal to help the acupuncture address some internal imbalances that manifest as headaches. Another effective technique used in the treatment of headaches is cold laser (aka laserpuncture). This device emits non-thermal infrared light that penetrates deeply and effectively improves circulation and decreases pain.
The treatment plan usually consists of acupuncture 1-2 times a week with a follow up after 4 weeks. If the headaches are caused by a bad pillow, the treatment time might be much less. However, if the headache is rooted in the high stresses of your work life, it might take a little time.
