Dr. Kirkham utilizes his advanced training in integrative cancer care to help relieve and manage the signs and symptoms associated with cancer, cancer related treatments, and cancer recovery. His treatments are designed to compliment, not to replace traditional cancer care.
With each patient, he develops a treatment plan that takes into account the unique circumstances of their injury or ailment. In practice, he uses a blend of acupuncture, tui na, cupping, gua sha, cold laser, herbal remedies, supplements, dietary adjustments and health education.
Dr. Kirkham received his Doctoral degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with a focus in advanced pain management and integrative cancer care from Bastyr University. His Master’s degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine is from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. He is certified in acupuncture and herbal medicine by the NCCAOM and has a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine.
Dr. Kirkham is an adjunct faculty member at Bastyr University where he teaches didactic classes as well as supervises students in the clinic. He enjoys the process of teaching students and helping them develop their clinical skills, preparing them for a future in East Asian Medicine. Along with his private practice and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Kirkham is also an active member of the Washington East Asian Medicine Association. He firmly believes that East Asian medicine can work hand in hand with Western methods and cures.
Insurance Coverage: Many insurance policies do cover acupuncture and Dr. Kirkham is a preferred provider for most major insurances. However, Dr. Kirkham’s office makes no representation that your insurance company will cover acupuncture. Insurance policies may vary greatly in terms of deductible and percentage of coverage for acupuncture care. We will do our best to verity your insurance coverage, and will bill your insurance in a timely manner. Because of the variance from one insurance policy to another, we require that you, the patient, be personally responsible for the payment of your deductibles, as well as any unpaid balances in this office.
