Cancer Pain Relief and Management

While I don’t treat cancer, I do help relieve and manage the pain associated with cancer, cancer related treatments, and cancer recovery. I have many years of experience working in the field of supportive cancer care. My treatments compliment the medical care you are or already have received, helping relieve pain without the addition of drugs. Depending on the pain you are experiencing, we can relieve most pain symptoms either entirely or bringing your pain levels down to a more manageable level.

Are you or a loved one experiencing nausea, vomiting, stomach or abdominal pains, constipation, headaches, generalized body aches or pains – I can help treat the pain and side effects you are experiencing with the extra training in integrative oncology and supportive cancer care.

  • Testimonials:

“I began seeing Dr. Kirkham primarily for lower abdominal pain from radiation therapy. I’d been diagnosed  with prostate cancer and was dealing with a lot of pain and irritation. I’ve had acupuncture in the past but decided since I was diagnosed with cancer, I should find someone who focuses on cancer care. After a series of treatments the pain disappeared, I’m happy with the results. I continued radiation and finished last year. I’m cancer free and very thankful for the help I received from Dr. Kirkham”

Acupuncture is effective for treating chronic pain

A recent study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine reveals acupuncture being more effective for chronic pain than “sham acupuncture,” which is a placebo version of acupuncture. The study included almost 18,000 individuals and studied the effect of acupuncture on chronic osteoarthritis, back, headaches and shoulder pain. “ The scientists concluded that the results of the analysis demonstrated that the specific effect of needling at true acupuncture points was statistically superior to sham needling. The authors also concluded that acupuncture was an effective and reasonable treatment option for the conditions evaluated.”
